Green Book Review (그린북, 2018)

La Laura 2020. 4. 4. 09:00

This movie missed my predictions every minute. So it was a more attractive movie. It is based on a true story, but the movie itself was perfect. I really liked every scene.

Tony Vallelonga(Viggo Mortensen), who has lived a rough life, and Dr. Don Shirley(Mahershalalhashbaz Ali), who has lived a life of culture and dignity.
Two people who are so different from each other in terms of thought, behavior, speech, and taste.
In 1962, they rely on the 'Green Book' for their travel guide to start a special southern tour.

Race, job, love, everything isn't easy for Dr. Don, but he didn't back down. The calmness of his face in the discriminative situation was rather heartbreaking. In those days, he is a great man that he made a choice to go to the south areas which are known to be dangerous, but he was also an immature man who could not open his heart and approach people well. So he looks more human and sad.

You can remember Vigo Mortensen in his previous work, 'A history of violence' and series of 'The Lord of the rings'. Comparing his previous sweet images, you will see a different kind of sweet guy. In this film, he is a macho character who is likely to have at least one person around us but keeps his moral line.

The green book was an information book about restaurants and lodgings made for colored people at that time. The author didn't know it would be such a big hit and rather hoped the book wouldn't sell well.
The movie is full of things to see as well as the man's friendship. It was regrettable to rarely see a man's charming smile because of his sad and gloomy mood.
Travel, music, food...
Isn't it already enough reason to watch the movie?
What else do you need?
